Post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP) remains the most common complication following ERCP. Although once considered unpredictable, understanding patient and procedure-related risk factors, and measures such as pancreatic stent placement and pharmacoprophylaxis have been shown to substantially decrease the risk of PEP.
