I am flattered that the reviewer of Claudia Henrion’s book Women in Mathematics: the Addition of Difference [this MONTHLY 107 (2000) 959–963] identified with me in a number of instances. However, in at least one instance, she surely is confusing me with someone else. I was never denied a fellowship to Yale. To the contrary, in 1968 I was offered a position (of assistant professor) in their Mathematics Department, which I did not accept.
