Edaravone (3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one), a strong novel free radical scavenger, is used for treatment of patients with acute brain infarction. Edaravone has preventive effects on myocardial injury following ischemia and reperfusion in patients with acute myocardial infarction.
