Summary Historically, LGBTTI women have been marginalized, if not made invisible, within Ecuadorian society. While sexual orientation—but not also gender identity—was included among the nondiscrimination criteria in the Constitution, this did not reduce discrimination of lesbian women as no comprehensive mechanism was developed towards this end.
