  • The sessile rotifers are taxonomically defined as all the individuals belonging to the families Flosculariidae, Conochilidae (Order Flosculariaceae), and Collothecidae (Order Collothecaceae) (Edmondson, 1940, 194). Freeswimming species are, however, found in each family. The Conochilidae are totally planktonic.
