OBJECTIVE To establish the feasibility and method of evaluation of an early supported hospital discharge policy for patients with acute stroke. DESIGN A randomized controlled trial comparing an early supported discharge service to conventional care. SETTING Three acute hospitals in Newcastle upon Tyne.
