BACKGROUND Pre-eclampsia is associated with altered plasma concentrations of the pro- and anti-angiogenic factors placental growth factor (PlGF), vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A) and soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt1).
