OBJECTIVE Fluid overload has been independently associated with increased morbidity and mortality in pediatric patients with renal failure, acute lung injury, and sepsis. Pediatric patients who undergo cardiopulmonary bypass are at risk for poor cardiac, pulmonary, and renal outcomes.
