PURPOSE Postnatal hyperoxia in rats causes an arrest in growth of retinal blood vessels, along with severe changes in retinal ultrastructure and function. Previous studies focused on consequences of postnatal hyperoxia at time points substantially removed from the hyperoxic insult.
