The Izera Block in the West Sudetes, which is composed of granites, gneisses (and transitional granite-gneisses) and minor mica schists, is one of the largest outcrops of Early Palaeozoic (ca. 500 Ma) metagranitoid rocks in the basement units of the Variscides of Central Europe.
