EVALUATION OF NOOTROPIC ACTIVITY OF AEGLE MARMELOS EXTRACT USING DIFFERENT EXPERIMENTAL MODELS IN RATS
@inproceedings{Gavimath2012EVALUATIONON, title={EVALUATION OF NOOTROPIC ACTIVITY OF AEGLE MARMELOS EXTRACT USING DIFFERENT EXPERIMENTAL MODELS IN RATS}, author={Chidanand Gavimath and Ashajyothi Chavan and Ramachandra Yarapa Lakshmikantha and Padmalatha Rai Satwadi}, year={2012} }
In the present study A. marmelos selected for evaluation of its anti-amnesic activity and also to study its influence on cholinergic system of the brain of rats, because there were no reporters on its anti-amnesic activity being evaluated pharmacologically. The electroshock (MES) induced amnesia model and scopolamine a well known anticholinergic drug was another model also used to produce loss of memory. Chronic exposure to MES for 7 days produced a significant decrease in latency to expose to…

Comparative study of the nootropic activity of the aqueous and methanolic extracts of onion and medharasayana
- Chemistry
- 2014
Nootropics are agents that enhance cognition and memory and are alleged to work by increasing the levels of neurochemicals in the brain, especially cholinergic transmission or by neutralizing free…
EVALUATION OF Sapindus trifoliatus ON ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE INDUCED BY ALUMINUM CHLORIDE IN RATS
- Psychology, Biology
- 2015
Sapindus trifoliatus when was used for treatment of AlCl3induced AD, it improves the behavioural & biochemical parameters and the histopathological finding in hippocampus of brain tissue neuron appears less or more like normal one when compared to the negative control.
EVALUATION OF ROSEMARY OIL FOR ITS NOOTROPIC ACTIVITY AND FORMULATION OF IT INTO A TRANSDERMAL PATCH
- Psychology
- 2014
The Rosemary oil was found to improve learning abilities and memory capacities in mice and elevated Acetylcholine levels in the brain and, ultimately, improved the memory of mice.
Evaluation of nootropic activity and formulation of transdermal patches of cod liver oil
- Computer Science
- 2014
Cod liver oil has significant nootropic activity as evidenced by its ability to reduce the transfer latency in elevated plus maze, step down latency, water maze, and reduce the acetyl choline esterase activity.
Evaluation of Nootropic and Anti-Nociceptive Activity of Green Tea in Comparison with Medhya Rasayana
- Chemistry
- 2014
Green tea (Camellia sinesis) is a known traditional medicinal plant that has been consumed for its putative nutritional and health benefits for centuries. The polyphenols found in green tea are…

Influence of Clitoria Ternatea Extracts on Memory and Central Cholinergic Activity in Rats
- Biology, ChemistryPharmaceutical biology
- 2000
The authors' results suggest that C. ternatea extracts increase rat brain acetylcholine content and acetyl cholinesterase a ctivity in a similar fashion to the standard cerebro protective drug Pyritinol.
Changes in Learning and Memory, Acetylcholinesterase Activity and Monoamines in Brain After Chronic Carbamazepine Administration in Rats
- Biology, PsychologyEpilepsia
- 1995
It is postulated that the decreased AChE activity caused by CBZ in the therapeutic range may lead to increased ACh levels in brain, thus producing improvement in learning and memory.
BR-16A (Mentat), A Herbal Preparation, Improves Learning and Memory Performance in Mice
- Biology, Psychology
- 1993
The effectiveness of BR-16A, a herbal psychotropic preparation, was investigated in shortterm memory paradigms in mice and a possibly nootropic action of BR -16A involving cholinergic and GABAergic modulation is suggested.
