Donax striatus Linne 1767 is one of the two beach clam species that inhabits in the Caribbean. Few investigations have focused on describing aspects related with the population structure of this species. A population of D. striatus was surveyed from February 2008 to January 2009 in Las Balsas beach, Gibara, Cuba. The population showed seasonal fluctuations of the density presenting the higher values on May and October 2008 and January 2009. There were peaks of recruitment: April-May, August…

Abundancia y crecimiento relativo de Donax denticulatus (Bivalvia: Donacidae) en playa Levisa, costa sur oriental de Cuba

TLDR
Length-weight relationship showed a significant correlation between these variables; however, the allometric coefficient value is different considering different life stages, which means this population shows potential to be exploited, but some management measures must be taken into account to ensure sustainability.

Growth and production of Donax striatus (Bivalvia: Donacidae) from Las Balsas beach, Gibara, Cuba.

TLDR
The rapid growth and high turnover rate of D. striatus suggest a rapid recovery of the population and the idea that this beach clam is an important resource at Las Balsas beach must continue with caution and only at the level of a recreational fishery.

Dinámica poblacional de Donax denticulatus (Bivalvia: Donacidae) en playa Carenero, costa sur oriental de Cuba

TLDR
High densities, fast growth and high somatic production indicate that this population of Donax denticulatus can be exploited for fishing purposes for which some management measures are proposed.

Distribution and density of the mollusk Donax striatus ( Linnaeus , 1767 ) in a tropical estuarine region in the brazilian semi-arid

This study evaluated the spatial and temporal distribution and density of the bivalve Donax striatus, at beaches close to the Apodi/Mossoró River estuary, through, six semiannual sampling campaigns

Spatial distribution of Ocypode quadrata (Decapoda: Ocypodidae) in eight beaches of North- Eastern Cuba. Studies on the ecology of Ocypode quadrata have been mostly carried out in the Northern and

MORFOMETRÍA DE LA CONCHA DE DONAX DENTICULATUS Y DONAX STRIATUS DE DOS PLAYAS DE CUBA ORIENTAL

TLDR
The objective of this paper is to quantify the relationships between morphometric variables and verify whether the Shell Shape Stabilization Indicator (IEF, Spanish acronym) is useful to determine the minimum size of catch for the two species.

Biology and Population Dynamics of Donax trunculus L. (Bivalvia: Donacidae) in the South Adriatic Coast (Italy)

TLDR
Biology and population dynamics of the suspension-feeding wedge clam Donax trunculus were studied for 13 months along the Italian Southern Adriatic coast near the Lagoon of Lesina and showed an intraspecific segregation between young and adult wedge clams.

Population dynamics and secondary production of the wedge clam Donaxhanleyanus (Bivalvia: Donacidae) on a high-energy, subtropical beach of Brazil

TLDR
Data compiled from literature suggests a latitudinal gradient in population parameters, with mortality and renewal rate (P/B) of different species of Donax increasing and life span decreasing from temperate to tropical regions.

Depth segregation phenomenon in Donax trunculus (Bivalvia: Donacidae) populations of the Algarve coast (southern Portugal)

A study was undertaken to evaluate the existence of depth segregation between size classes of Donax trunculus populations that occur along the Algarve coast (southern Portugal). Five collecting areas

Observations on the biology of Donax trunculus and D. vittatus at Ile d'Oléron (French Atlantic coast)

TLDR
Comparisons with other published data reveal that the rate of growth of D. trunculus is similar throughout its range from Brittany to the Mediterranean Sea, while that ofD.

MICROEVOLUTION AND PHENOTYPIC PLASTICITY IN DONAX SERRA RÖDING (BIVALVIA: DONACIDAE) ON HIGH ENERGY SANDY BEACHES

TLDR
Investigation oforphological differences between populations of the wedge clam Donax serra inhabiting two different coasts and biogeographic regions of South Africa found Phenotypic plasticity in present D. serra populations is an important factor that enabled this species to occupy different habitats and bioGeographic regions and to survive 5 million years of environmental changes.

Descrição do ciclo reprodutivo de Donax hanleyanus (Bivalvia, Donacidae) no sul do Brasil

TLDR
Histological examination of clams showed in the most of the adult population sampled that the spawning is practically continuous, without any period of sexual rest, in the two main periods of gametogenesis.

Effects of human activities on long-term trends in sandy beach populations : the wedge clam Donax hanleyanus in Uruguay

TLDR
This study suggests that further research on sandy beach populations should include human activities as important factors affecting long-term trends, and spatial variations in salinity and also in the amount of fishing effort exerted on Ad.

Dissipative Beaches and Macrofauna Communities on Exposed Intertidal Sands

This study was undertaken primarily to test the hypotheses that (I) the intertidal fauna of exposed sandy beaches occupy four distinct zones and (2) that dissipative (flat) beaches support faunas of

Studies on some aspects of biology of the wedge-clam,Donax faba Gmelin from Mandapam coast in the Gulfof Mannar

TLDR
The wedge-clam, Donax faba Gmelin is one of the few clams collected for culi nary purposes by the coastal population, especially the fishermen commimity, around Mandapam on the south-east coast of India and investigations on the biology of this clam were undertaken at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute.
