Modest induction of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress confers resistance to inflammation in glomeruli. Recently, we found that ER stress leads to mesangial insensitivity to cytokine-induced activation of NF-kappaB, but the underlying mechanisms are incompletely understood.
