Larval Scomber BcombruB and ScomberjaponicuB from the western North Atlantic Ocean are com­ pared. At 4 to 11 mm S.japonicuB are deeper bodied, and at 3 to 15 mm have greater preanuslengths than S. BcombruB of comparable sizes. ScomberBcombruB larvae are more heavily pigmented than S. japonicuB, particularly on the dorsal trunk surface and at the cleithral sympysis.
