The egg and larval development of Atlantic thread herring, Opisthonema oglinum, is described, based on wild.caught eggs and laboratory-reared larvae. This description includes morphological details of the egg and osteological development, changes in body shape and pigmentation, and significant features of transformation of the larval development stages.
