An efficient plant regeneration system for Pinellia ternata (Thunb) Breit, an important wild Chinese herb, was established. The investigated factors influencing callus induction and plant regeneration included sterilizing agents, explant type, culture medium, and combinations of plant growth regulators in the medium. Ten min treatment of explants with 0.1% HgCl2 was more suitable for sterilization of tuber explants than NaClO and H2O2. Tubers as explants were superior to leaves and petioles… Expand

Pinellia ternata is an important medicinal herb in Northeast Asia, but its propagation rate is quite low in nature. This study was performed to develop a simple and rapid micropropagation method forExpand
High efficiency Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of Pinellia ternata using petiole explants from submerged cultures
The efficient transformation of P. ternata using petioles from submerged cultures as explants using the Agrobacterium strain EHA105 to facilitate the functional characterization of genes of interest and genetic advancements in this medicinal herb. Expand
Mass propagation of microtubers from suspension cultures of Pinellia ternata cells and quantitative analysis of succinic acid in Pinellia tubers
The in vitro P. ternata microtuber proliferation system established in this study is thus an efficient alternative for the mass production of medicinal tubers. Expand
Mass production of Pinellia ternata multiple egg-shaped micro-tubers (MESMT) through optimized growth conditions for use in ethnomedicine
This is the first study to report on the optimal conditions for in vitro propagation of Pinellia ternata multiple egg-shaped micro-tubers and provides an invaluable basis for its large-scale production to meet its demand in traditional medicine. Expand
Induction and in vitro alkaloid yield of calluses and protocorm-like bodies (PLBs) from Pinellia ternata
The induction of calluses and PLBs with alkaloid content greater than that of field-grown tubers indicates the potential use of these tissue culture materials for bioprocessing alkaloids from P. ternata and for the study of alkaloidal metabolism. Expand
Induction and in vitro alkaloid yield of calluses and protocorm-like bodies (PLBs) from Pinellia ternata
This study investigated the induction and in vitro alkaloid yield of calluses and protocorm-like bodies (PLBs) from Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Berit (Araceae). We planned to use this material inExpand
In vitro sterilization procedures for micropropagation of 'Oblačinska' sour cherry.
Surface sterilization is the most important step in preparation of explants for micropropagation, because controlling fungal and bacterial contamination of woody plant from field sources is veryExpand
Breaking the Summer Dormancy of Pinellia ternata by Introducing a Heat Tolerance Receptor-Like Kinase ERECTA Gene
The findings show that the summer dormancy of P. ternata which is a naturally evolved trait, can be removed by a single heat responsive gene, which contributes to generating heat tolerant new Pinellia varieties with enhanced commercially valuable chemicals. Expand
Effect of Different Sterilization Methods on Contamination and Viability of Nodal Segments of Cestrum nocturnum L
It had been concluded that the best surface sterilization agent was PPM. Expand

Plant regeneration via organogenesis in marigold
Thirteen days was the best time of exposure of the explant to the regeneration medium for shoot induction and the highest values for regeneration were obtained with BA (13.3 μM) and IAA (17.1 μM). Expand
Stimulatory effect of water stress on plant regeneration in aromatic Indica rice varieties
Frequency of regeneration of fertile plants from cell suspension-derived calli was significantly increased using water stress treatments in two commercially cultivated Indian aromatic rice varieties and a similar stimulatory effect of water stress on plant regeneration was observed in another Indica rice variety, IR43, and a Japonica rice varieties, Taipei 309. Protoplast culture and plant regeneration ofPinellia ternata
K8P and modified MS media were used to culture protoplasts in: a) liquid, b) liquid-solid double layer, or c) agarose embedded protoplast culture, and the former two were conducive to colony formation fromprotoplast-derived cells. Expand
Establishment of an efficient medium for anther culture of rice through comparative experiments on the nitrogen sources
The experiments have revealed that (NH4)2SO4 combined with KNO3 at low concentration is of advantage to the formation, growth and differentiation of pollen callus in rice, whereas the highExpand
Simple dehydration treatment promotes plantlet regeneration of rice (Oryza sativa L.) callus

Herbicide Use on Roundup Ready Crops
Although the total amount of herbicides used with soybeans has changed little with the introduction of Roundup Ready varieties, the data show a substantial reduction in the number of applications made to soybean acreage, and this demonstrates growers using fewer active ingredients and making fewer trips over the field, which translates into ease of management.
