The objective of the work was to formulate a normal release Alstonia boonei tablet and to study the effect of binder type and binder concentration on the physico-chemical properties of the tablets. Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (SCMC), gelatin and acacia at concentrations 1 %, 2 %, 4 % and 8 % w/w respectively were used as binders in formulating normal release tablets. The micromeritic properties of the granules prepared were studied in terms of flow rate, angle of repose, bulk and tapped…

Figures and Tables from this paper

EFFECT OF GRANULE SIZE, COMPACTION PRESSURE AND CONCENTRATION OF MALVA VERTICILLATA MUCILAGE ON THE IN VITRO PROPERTIES OF TABLETS

TLDR
Property of tablets containing 2.5% w/w MVM matched the prescribed pharmaceutical limits and hence M. verticillata root mucilage has a great potential to become a new source of tablet binder.

DESIGN AND IN VITRO EVALUATION OF SUSTAINED RELEASE MATRIX TABLETS OF METFORMIN PRODUCED USING DETARIUM MICROCARPUM GUM

TLDR
DMG alone or with NaCMC was successfully used to formulate sustained release metformin matrix tablets that were comparable to the marketed product.

IN VITRO PROPERTIES OF SOLID LIPID MICROPARTICLES (SLMS) LOADED WITH METHANOLIC EXTRACT OF GARCINIA KOLA (HECKEL) SEED

Objective: The decline in the use of herbal medicine especially in the Western world may be due to lack of readily available market brand formulations and the fact that most herbal remedies are taken

PHYTOSOMES ENHANCED THE ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTIFUNGAL PROPERTIES OF LANTANA CAMARA

Aim: The aim of the work was to formulate Lantana camara phytosomes to improve the antimicrobial properties. Methods: L. camara phytosomes were prepared by solvent evaporation using soy lecithin

Formulation of the extract of the stem bark of Alstonia boonei as tablet dosage form

TLDR
The method of preparation of the A. boonei tablets needs to be carefully selected to ensure the production of tablets with adequate bond strength to withstand the rigours of handling and at the same time release the active compound (s) for biological action.

Formulation and evaluation of paracetamol tablets manufactured using the dried fruit of Phoenix dactylifera Linn as an excipient

Dried and milled date palm fruit was evaluated for its binding properties in comparison with acacia and tragacanth. Characterization of the granules in addition to quality control tests that included

PRELIMINARY EVALUATION OF CHLOROQUINE PHOSPHATE TABLETS OBTAINED USING DEFATTED DETARIUM MICROCARPIUM (SQUILL & SPERR) GUM AS A BINDER Research Article

The defatted seed gum of Detarium microcarpium (Squill and Sperr),a naturally occurring hydrophilic polymer was investigated as a normal release binder matrix for the formulation of chloroquine

Pharmaceutics : the science of dosage form design

TLDR
The design of dosage forms, principles of sterilization practice, and the operation of clean rooms are described, which will help clarify the role of bioavailability in drug delivery.

DEVELOPEMET OF COLOSPECIFIC DRUG DELIVERY OF ACECLOFEAC BY USIG EFFECTIVE BIDER SYSTEM OF ETHYL CELLULOSE

TLDR
Ethyl cellulose as binder was most suitable binder to deliver the drug specifically in colonic region as compare to matrix tablets of dextrin with other binder systems.

Anti-inflammatory and anti-ulcerogenic activity of the ethanol extract of ginger (Zingiber officinale)

TLDR
Results show that ginger possess good potential as an anti-oedema and anti-ulcer agent and against indomethacin ‐ induced gastric ulcer in the rats.

Antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities of Olax viridis root bark extracts and fractions

TLDR
The present work is a step towards the isolation and characterization of lead anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial agents from the extract of Olax viridis, which can be developed into better therapeutic molecules targeted towards some specific inflammatory diseases.

Studies on the use of Zizyphus spina-christi against pain in rats and mice

TLDR
Results show that the fraction apparently traced to be responsible for the plant’s main analgesic, and in addition, anti-inflammatory activities has some levels of dose related effect on all the models except the tail-flick test in which the activity was not statistically significant.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY PROPERTIES OF THE ROOT BARK OF ALSTONIA BOONEI

TLDR
The anti-inflammatory properties of the root bark of Alstonia boonei, De wild, was studied using egg white-induced rat hind paw oedema as a model of acute inflammation to justify its use in herbal medicine for the treatment of rheumatic and breast pains.
