Fibroblasts are the major cell types found in the granulation of wound tissue and play a key role in wound healing. In this study we examined the effects of the sequential root extracts of Alkanna frigida on the stimulation of the growth of fibroblasts as an aspect of promotion of wound healing by an in vitro study on Embryonic Swiss Mouse Fibroblast (3T3) Cells. Results showed that all the tested extracts were able to increase proliferation of 3t3 cells. Nhexan and chloroform extracts had the… Expand

Antibacterial and Cytotoxic Activity of Extracts and Isolated Compounds from Myrciaria ferruginea ( Myrtaceae )
This study evaluated for the first time the antibacterial activity, cell viability and migration ability on 3T3 murine fibroblast cells of extracts and isolated compounds [lupeol (1),Expand
The effect of a beeswax, olive oil and Alkanna tinctoria (L.) Tausch mixture on burn injuries: An experimental study with a control group.
TLDR
When a beeswax, olive oil and A. tinctoria (L.) Tausch mixture was applied to second degree burns, this accelerated epithelization, reduced the pain experienced during dressing changes and shortened the hospital stay durations of the patients. Expand
Antimicrobial Activity and Cytotoxicity of Alkanna Tinctoria (L.) Tausch Root Extracts

Use of fibroblast cell culture for the study of wound healing drugs
TLDR
To study the action of wound healing drugs on the growth of fibroblasts, they were cultured in a medium containing a suboptimal concentration of serum and several growth factors were compared with various healing products for their effects on thegrowth curve. Expand
Stimulation of fibroblast proliferation during experimental wound healing
The dynamics of DNA synthesis by connective-tissue fibroblasts of intact mice and in the wounds of experimentally wounded mice was studied after administration of potassium orotate under differentExpand
An extract of the root of Lithospermun erythrorhison accelerates wound healing in diabetic mice.
TLDR
The results suggest that the inflammatory phase was shortened, and the proliferative and maturation phases were advanced by SK, which could potentially help patients with intractable bedsores. Expand
Cellular events and biomarkers of wound healing
TLDR
Clinical examination of wounds inconsistently predicts which wounds will heal when procedures like secondary closure are planned, and surgeons hope that these chemicals can be used as biomarkers of wounds which have impaired ability to heal. Expand
Wound healing properties of naphthaquinone pigments fromAlkanna tinctoria
From the roots ofAlkanna tinctoria Tausch, the alkannin esters of the following acids were isolated and identified: β,β-dimethylacrylic acid, β-acetoxy-isovaleric acid, isovaleric acid, and angelicExpand
The effect of Alkanna tinctoria Tausch on burn wound healing in rabbits.
TLDR
While complete healing of partial thickness and olive oil burn wounds occurred in 7 to 10, and 26 days, respectively, with well formed dermal-epidermal junctions in both groups, severely burned wounds appeared to be nonresponsive to A. tinctoria. Expand
Higher numbers of autologous fibroblasts in an artificial dermal substitute improve tissue regeneration and modulate scar tissue formation
TLDR
Dermal regeneration of experimental full‐skin defects was significantly improved by treatment with dermal substitutes containing high numbers of autologous fibroblasts, correlated with the higher numbers of fibroblast present in the dermal substitute at the moment of transplantation. Expand
Effect of Alkanna albugam root on LDL oxidation. A comparative study with species of the Lamiaceae family
TLDR
Of the extracts tested, only those from Alkanna albugam root and Mentha piperita exhibited statistically significant activity, and weaker activity was shown by the extracts obtained from Rosmarinus officinalis and Sideritis clandestina. Expand
Transformation of fibroblasts into endothelial cells during angiogenesis
TLDR
This work has shown that cultured fibroblasts labeled with tritium thymidine were transplanted autologously into the chambers of rabbit ear chambers, and newly formed blood vessels contained endothelial cells labeled with TritiumThymidine. Expand
Factors Affecting Wound Healing
TLDR
The factors discussed include oxygenation, infection, age and sex hormones, stress, diabetes, obesity, medications, alcoholism, smoking, and nutrition, which may lead to therapeutics that improve wound healing and resolve impaired wounds. Expand
