The mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) is important for salt homeostasis and reno-cardiovascular pathophysiology. Signaling mechanisms include, besides classical genomic pathways, nongenomic pathways with putative pathophysiological relevance involving the mitogen-activated protein kinases ERK1/2.
