  • The Taiyuan Formation in Yangquan, Shanxi, aging from late Late Carboniferous to early Early Permian, is remarkably developed, and a typical section of this formation in Shuiquan valley has been systematically measured and described. Abundant and well-preserved brachiopod fossils of 125 species, belonging to 31 families and 48 genera, are recognized at this locality.
