We present an overview of the microscopic theory of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) coupling and related exchange-relativistic effects such as exchange anisotropy, electron-nuclear antisymmetric supertransferred hyperfine interactions, antisymmetric magnetogyrotropic effects, and antisymmetric magnetoelectric coupling in strongly correlated 3d compounds focusing on orthoferrites RFeO3 (R is a rare-earth ion or yttrium Y). Most attention in the paper centers around the derivation of the…

Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya Coupling in 3d Insulators
We present an overview of the microscopic theory of the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya (DM) coupling in strongly correlated 3d compounds. Most attention in the paper centers around the derivation of the
Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya antisymmetric exchange coupling in cuprates: Oxygen effects
We reconsider the conventional Moriya approach to the Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya antisymmetric exchange coupling for a single Cu1-O-Cu2 bond in cuprates using a perturbation scheme that provides an optimal
Low-energy spin dynamics of orthoferrites AFeO3 (A  =  Y, La, Bi).
TLDR
It is found that different properties of the Pbnm and R3c space group lead to the stabilization of a spin cycloid structure in the latter case but not in the former, which explains the difference in the levels of complexity of magnon band structures for the respective compounds.
Supertransferred hyperfine interaction in magnetic insulators (II)
The important mechanisms of supertransferred hyperfine (STHF) interactions in N−O−M chains are briefly discussed: (i) spin polarization ofns states in the N-ion due to the s-d exchange
Field‐Induced Spin Reorientation in YFeO3 and YCrO3
Application of a sufficiently strong magnetic field Hx along the antiferromagnetic easy axis (x) of the isomorphic, distorted perovskites YFeO3 and YCrO3, results in the smooth rotation of the
Supertransferred hyperfine interaction in magnetic insulators (I)
Two additive contributions to the supertransferred hyperfine (STHF) interaction are suggested to be taken into account in its semi-quantitative analysis of the N-O-M chain: (i) that of bonding
Angular dependence of the superexchange interaction Fe3+-O2−-Cr3+
The super-exchange interaction parametersI(Fe, Cr) of Fe3+ and Cr3+ in iron doped rate-earth orthochromitesRCr0.99Fe0.01 O3 (R=La, La0.5Nd0.5, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Y, Er, Yb or Lu) have been obtained
Ultraviolet Magneto-Optical Properties of Single-Crystal Orthoferrites, Garnets, and Other Ferric Oxide Compounds
The ultraviolet and visible linear magneto-optical properties of representative ferric oxide compounds were measured by reflection methods between 1.7 and 5.64 eV at room temperature. The
Exchange interactions in magnetic insulators
Abstract An account is given of the theory of the exchange interactions between localized moments in an insulating crystal, using recently developed techniques. The Hamiltonian, H , can be a quite
Magnetization reversal in mixed ferrite-chromite perovskites with non magnetic cation on the A-site.
TLDR
This model is able to reproduce the magnetization reversal (MR) observed experimentally in a field cooling process for intermediate x values and the dependence with x of the critical temperatures and the conditions for the existence of MR in terms of the strength of DM interactions between Fe(3+) and Cr( 3+) ions with the x values variations.
