Abstract We model the dynamics of point Josephson junctions in a 1D microstrip line using a wave equation with delta distributed sine non-linearities. The model is suitable for both low T c and high- T c systems (0 and π junctions). For a single junction in the line, we found two limiting behaviors: the ohmic mode where the junction acts as a pure resistor which stops waves and separates the cavity and the junction mode where the wave is homogeneous throughout the strip. This classification…
Statics of Point Josephson Junctions in a Microstrip Line
TLDR
For the common situation of small currents, the maximum current $\gamma_{max}$ can be obtained by a simple formula, the magnetic approximation, which is in excellent agreement with measurements obtained for real devices.
A system with distributed nonlinearities: The array of Josephson junctions
Abstract. We derive and review a new long wave model describing the electro-dynamics of point Josephson junctions in a superconducting cavity. It consists in a wave equation with Dirac delta function
Inhomogeneous parallel arrays of Josephson junctions
Abstract We model new inhomogeneous parallel arrays of small Josephson junctions by taking into account the time and space variations of the field in the cavity and the capacity miss-match at the
Designing arrays of Josephson junctions for specific static responses
We consider the inverse problem of designing an array of superconducting Josephson junctions that has a given maximum static current pattern as a function of the applied magnetic field. Such devices
Fluxon modes and phase-locking at 600 GHz in superconducting tunnel junction nonuniform arrays
We investigated parallel arrays of superconducting Nb/AlOx/Nb tunnel junctions nonevenly distributed in a superconducting Nb/SiO/Nb microstrip transmission line. Such devices are discretized
Interference filter properties of nonuniform Josephson junction arrays
We experimentally and numerically study the zero-voltage supercurrent versus magnetic field of nonuniform arrays of Josephson junctions parallel-connected by a superconducting stripline. The measured
Finite element simulations of window Josephson junctions
TLDR
This paper deals with the numerical simulation of the steady state two dimensional window Josephson junctions by finite element method and proposes interface relaxation methods which by taking advantage of special properties of the composite PDE can further reduce the overall computational cost.
Mobile π-kinks and half-integer zero-field-like steps in highly discrete alternating 0–π Josephson junction arrays
The dynamics of a one-dimensional, highly discrete, linear array of alternating 0- and π-Josephson junctions is studied numerically, under constant bias current at zero magnetic field. The calculated
A pseudo-spectral method that uses an overlapping multidomain technique for the numerical solution of sine-Gordon equation in one and two spatial dimensions
In this article, we study an explicit scheme for the solution of sine-Gordon equation when the space discretization is carried out by an overlapping multidomain pseudo-spectral technique. By using

Influence of the passive region on zero field steps for window Josephson junctions
We present a numerical and analytic study of the influence of the passive region on fluxon dynamics in a window junction. We examine the effect of the extension of the passive region and its
The window Josephson junction: a coupled linear nonlinear system

Critical current and fluxon dynamics in overdamped 0-π Josephson junctions
A one-dimensional overdamped 0-p Josephson junction, is studied numerically. The magnetic-fielddependent critical current patterns for short and long 0-p junctions differ greatly, due to the

We consider a one-dimensional parallel biased array of small Josephson junctions with a discontinuity point characterized by a phase jump of π in the phase difference. The system is described by a
EFFECT OF GEOMETRY ON FLUXON WIDTH IN A JOSEPHSON JUNCTION
