# Dynamics of Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking in the Weinberg-Salam Theory

@article{Susskind1979DynamicsOS, title={Dynamics of Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking in the Weinberg-Salam Theory}, author={Leonard Susskind}, journal={Physical Review D}, year={1979}, volume={20}, pages={2619-2625} }

We argue that the existence of fundamental scalar fields constitutes a serious flaw of the Weinberg-Salam theory. A possible scheme without such fields is described. The symmetry breaking is induced by a new strongly interacting sector whose natural scale is of the order of a few TeV.

Salam-Weinberg symmetry breaking with superheavy Higgs particles

- Physics
- 1987

Abstract We discuss here the possibility of the breaking of Salam-Weinberg symmetry by Higgs particles which are superheavy. The symmetry breaking is associated with a nonzero vacuum expectation… Expand

ELECTROWEAK SYMMETRY BREAKING DUE TO CONFINEMENT

- Physics
- 2000

Within the framework of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking, we consider an electroweak symmetry breaking pattern in which there is no conventional Cl term. The pattern is made appealing through… Expand

Ultraviolet dynamical symmetry breaking and a model of grand unification

- Physics

Abstract We study the possibility that dynamically generated, symmetry-breaking fermion self-energies persist out to the momentum scale of grand unification, and that significant and calculable… Expand

Dynamical gauge symmetry breaking on the lattice

Abstract We study, using lattice techniques, the dynamical symmetry breaking of a three-dimensional theory that mimics the electroweak sector of the standard model. We show that in the strong… Expand

Electroweak symmetry breaking in other terms

- Physics

We analyse descriptions of electroweak symmetry breaking in terms of ultralocal antisymmetric tensor fields and gauge-singlet geometric variables, respectively; in particular, the Weinberg–Salam… Expand

Dynamical Electroweak Symmetry Breaking

- Physics

Our work belongs to the category of beyond-Standard models where the electroweak symmetry is broken dynamically. It is closely related to the main representatives of this category, to the (Extended-)… Expand

Spontaneous parity violation in SUSY strong gauge theory

- Physics

We suggest simple models of spontaneous parity violation in supersymmetric strong gauge theory. We focus on left-right symmetric model and investigate vacuum with spontaneous parity violation.… Expand

Spontaneous CP Symmetry Breaking in Top-condensation Models

- Physics
- 2005

In this thesis we study top-condensation models of electroweak symmetry breaking. In particular we investigate a scenario in which the CP symmetry is broken spontaneously due to the same condensates… Expand

Towards the nonsupersymmetric solution of the gauge hierarchy problem

- Physics

Abstract In the Weinberg-Salam model with a composite Higgs boson for the special case when all Yukawa couplings except the t-quark coupling vanish, there is a hidden UL(1)⊗UR(1) gauge symmetry which… Expand

Unnatural origin of fermion masses for technicolor

- Physics
- 2010

We explore the scenario in which the breaking of the electroweak symmetry is due to the simultaneous presence and interplay of a dynamical sector and an unnatural elementary Higgs. We introduce a low… Expand
