Dynamically reconfigurable low-cost sub-band OFDMA for front-haul downlink in cloud radio access networks

Abstract

A dynamically reconfigurable narrow-bandwidth OFDMA design using intensity-modulation direct-detection (IM-DD) for a 40-Gbps downlink of radio access networking is presented. We show that only a fraction of the OFDMA bandwidth is required for sub-band demultiplexing to provide 5G fronthaul networking.
