Abstract The relationship between the increase in intensity of different spectral lines and the intensity of the applied non-homogeneous magnetic field was investigated using the method of the “graphite arc”. The optimal value for the magnetic field intensity, corresponding to the maximal line intensity increase was determined in different regions of the arc.
