A 52-year-old woman who is in otherwise excellent health is evaluated for liver test abnormalities. Her aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase levels are 130 U/L and 142 U/L, respectively, and her alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin, albumin, and creatinine levels are normal. Her body mass index is 25.5 kg/m, and physical examination is unremarkable.
