In this work, N, O-carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) samples from virgin chitosan (CS) were synthesised and CMCS/polyethylene oxide (PEO) (50/50) blend nanofibrous samples were successfully electrospun from their aqueous solution. The electrospinning conditions to achieve smooth and fine diameter nanofibrous mats were optimised via D-optimal design approach. Afterwards, vitamin C and phenytoin sodium (PHT-Na) were added to these samples for producing wound dressing materials. H-nuclear magnetic…

Electrospun Chitosan-based Fibers for Wound Healing Applications.

Electrospun fiber-based wound dressings from blend chitosan and/or polyethylene oxide (PEO) and/ or polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers provide a multi-purpose treatment capability for wound healing applications and inclusions of small molecule drugs and-or biological agents are possible.

Antibacterial nanofibers based on poly(l-lactide-co-d, l-lactide) and poly(vinyl alcohol) used in wound dressings potentially: a comparison between hybrid and blend properties

The SNL 76/7 fibroblast cell line culture confirmed that the hybrid-Tri nanofibrous sample had better proliferation performance than the blend-Tri sample because of the minimal cytotoxicity and maximal cell viability by MTT and acridine orange/ethidium bromide staining.
