  • Summary Detomidine hydrochloride (DORMOSEDAN) 20 or 40 g/kg body weight was used as a sedative and analgesic in horses presented with colic, for permitting examinations, establishing a diagnosis and initiation of therapy. In controlled trials, 107 cases received 20 or 40 g/kg at random; in open clinical trials, 233 cases were treated in accordance with the veterinarian's judgement with either 20 g/kg (168 cases) or 40 g/kg (65 cases).
