Fos expression in the globus pallidus (GP) of rats was elicited by the D2 agonist quinpirole both ipsilateral and contralateral to a unilateral nigrostriatal 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) injection; however, the 6-OHDA-treated hemisphere was more sensitive to this effect. The quinpirole-induced GP Fos expression was antagonized in both hemispheres by the D2 antagonist eticlopride, but not by the D1 antagonist SCH 23390.
