The research presented in this paper establishes a valid, and simplified, revision of previous spreadsheet error classifications. [] Key Result The findings also show that spreadsheet error identification ability is directly affected both by spreadsheet experience and by error -type awareness. In particular, that spreadsheet error-type awareness significantly improves the user’s ability to identify, the more surreptitious , qualitative error.
In Search of a Taxonomy for Classifying Qualitative Spreadsheet Errors
TLDR
A taxonomy for categorizing qualitative errors in spreadsheet models that offers a framework for evaluating the readiness of a spreadsheet model before it is released for use by others in the organization is proposed.
Improvement of Spreadsheet Quality through Reduction of End-User Overconfidence: Case Study
This paper is prompted by and based on earlier research into developers' overconfidence as one of the main causes of spreadsheet errors. Similar to related research, the aim of the paper was to

This research work is a comprehensive review that describes and classifies approaches on finding and fixing errors in spreadsheet in terms of definition, how they work, and kinds of errors they can find in spreadsheets.
Introducing a Taxonomy for Classifying Qualitative Spreadsheet Errors
TLDR
A taxonomy for categorizing qualitative errors in spreadsheet models is proposed that offers an exploratory framework for evaluating the quality of a spreadsheet model before it is released for use by others in the organization.
Impact of errors in operational spreadsheets
Range Names - A Risky Practice in Spreadsheet Development?
TLDR
The aim of this paper is to compare the reliability of simple spreadsheet formulas developed by intermediate users through both cell references and range names, and find that, contrary to widespread opinion, the use of range names does not improve the quality of spreadsheets.
Detecting Spreadsheet Errors: An Education Case
TLDR
This case enhances students' understanding of end‐user computing risk by illustrating the difficulty of detecting errors in spreadsheets and helps students improve their ability to detect spreadsheet errors.
Do Spreadsheet Errors Lead to Bad Decisions: Perspectives of Executives and Senior Managers
