The analysis of literary works naturally intersects with the study of the language in which they are written; literary scholars and students of language (I hesitate to use the word 'linguist,' since that term has rapidly come to mean something rather different from what I intend here) approach the same materials from different points of view, but if both do their work well, each should be able to come up with something of value and interest to the other.
