AIMS High ferritin levels are associated with insulin resistance and liver steatosis, both thought of as emerging cardiovascular risk factors. The association between ferritin and cardiovascular disease is poorly documented in cardiometabolic states with higher cardiovascular risk, such as diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
