Because of the relatively significant incidence of both clinical depression and debilitating hot flashes (20%–30%), clinicians caring for women with breast cancer who are taking tamoxifen for the treatment or prevention of cancer recurrence are often faced with the need to prescribe antidepressant medications concurrently with tamoxifen.
