Divisibility and coherence properties of an open quantum system: role of the interaction with the environment

  title={Divisibility and coherence properties of an open quantum system: role of the interaction with the environment},
  author={Tarek Khalil and Jean Richert},
  journal={arXiv: Quantum Physics},
In the present work we recall and extend the results of previous work concerning the time evolution of open quantum systems. We show how general properties of such systems are related to their structure properties, those of their environments and the interaction between the systems and the environments.

Structure of the interaction and energy transfer between an open quantum system and its environment
Due to the coupling of a quantum system to its environment energy can be transfered between the two subsystems in both directions. In the present study we consider this process in a general framework
Entropy and applications of the area law in open quantum systems.
Open quantum systems interact with their environment and their dynamical behaviour depends strongly both on the spectral properties of the environment and the structure of the interaction between the
Open quantum systems at finite temperature.
The consistent definition of the thermodynamic functions of small open quantum systems in contact with an environment in equilibrium with a heat bath has been the subject of many debates in the

Coherent and decoherent time evolution of finite Markovian and non-Markovian open quantum systems
We examine the properties of open quantum systems with respect to their time evolution in different regimes, Markovian and non-Markovian. We analyze their behaviour with respect to their coherent or

Non-Markovian quantum processes: Complete framework and efficient characterization
It is shown how a multi-time non-Markovian process can be reconstructed experimentally, and that it has a natural representation as a many body quantum state, where temporal correlations are mapped to spatial ones.
Quantum theory and measurement
The forty-nine papers collected here illuminate the meaning of quantum theory as it is disclosed in the measurement process. Together with an introduction and a supplemental annotated bibliography,
Ensemble Method in the Theory of Irreversibility
We describe a new formulation of methods introduced in the theory of irreversibility by Van Hove and Prigogine, with the purpose of making their ideas easier to understand and to apply. The main tool
