Land intensification is thought to lead to soil degradation and consequently to loss of soil biodiversity. A study was undertaken to assess the effect of land use on nematode community and nematode destroying fungi in Taita districts, Kenya. Soil samples were collected from land under various uses which were natural forest, plantation forest, tea, coffee, napier grass, fallow, maize/beans intercrop and horticultural crops production. Chemical analysis of the soil properties was done to…

Screening of different sample types associated with sheep and cattle for the presence of nematophagous fungi in China
TLDR
Based on Shannon diversity index, the diversity levels of nematophagous fungi were relatively higher in samples associated with cattle, barn soil, and subtropical monsoon climate zone.

NEMATODE COMMUNITY STRUCTURE AS INFLUENCED BY LAND USE AND INTENSITY OF CULTIVATION
TLDR
Changes in the nematode community structure, as exhibited by diversity indices, may be a reflection of real differences in the soil characteristics and changes in ecosystem functions.
USE OF NEMATODE DESTROYING FUNGI AS INDICATORS OF LAND DISTURBANCE IN TAITA TAVETA, KENYA
TLDR
It is established that nematode destroying fungi increases with increased land disturbance and fungus isolates from vegetable gardens were most diverse but the least even while the forest land use was most even but least diverse.
MACROFAUNA DIVERSITY AND ABUNDANCE ACROSS DIFFERENT LAND USE SYSTEMS IN EMBU, KENYA
TLDR
It is demonstrated that quantitative changes in diversity and density of soil fauna communities occur when various land use systems are subjected to varying levels of intensification.

TLDR
Nematode diversity tends to be greatest in ecosystems with least disturbance, and bacterial-feeding nematodes make the greatest contribution to the decomposer food web in more intensively managed ecosystems.
Nematode-trapping fungi of a natural shrubland: Tests for food chain involvement
TLDR
The spatial and temporal changes in the abundance of nematode-trapping fungi and in suppression of nem atodes in a coastal shrub- land are described and the involvement of ne- matophagous organisms, including nematodes-trap- ping fungi is described.
