This compilation of ferns and lycophytes in Brazil is an update of the one published in 2010 in Catalogo de Plantas e Fungos do Brasil. The methodology consisted in collecting data from regional checklists, taxonomic revisions, and selected databases. Invited specialists improved the list accessing a website housed at the Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro. The results show 1,253 species: 1,111 of ferns and 142 of lycophytes. This number is 6.5% higher than the previous one (1,176 spp.). The…

An illustrated guide of ferns and lycophytes from Carambeí, PR, Brazil
Abstract We present a list of species of ferns and lycophytes from Carambeí, a municipality located in Paraná state, southern Brazil. This area, locally known as “Campos Gerais”, presents an
Fern and lycophyte flora of Acre state, Brazil
This paper provides keys, illustrations, short descriptions, and voucher specimen citations for the ferns and lycophytes of Acre, Brazil. We recognize a total of 212 species in 66 genera and 28
Tryonia (Pteridaceae) in Brazil
The objective of this work was to carry out the taxonomic study of Tryonia for Brazil, in order to elaborate its monograph in the Flora of Brazil 2020.
Jamesonia (Pteridaceae) in Brazil
This study carried out the taxonomic study of Jamesonia for Brazil, based on morphological analyses of specimens deposited in 25 Brazilian herbaria, plus online images of types, field expeditions in the southern and southeastern regions of Brazil, revision of the literature, and scanning electronic microscopy of the spores.
Inventory of Ferns and Lycophytes of the RPPN Pedra D'Antas, Pernambuco state, northeastern Brazil
The Northeastern Atlantic Forest (NAF) has a historic of intense habitat loss and fragmentation. In this context, knowledge of the species from forest remnants is urgently needed and represents a key
Identification key for lycophytes and ferns from the Picinguaba and Santa Virgínia Nuclei, Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar, Ubatuba, SP, Brazil
This work contributes to the knowledge of the fern and lycophytes diversity in the Picinguaba and Santa Virginia Nuclei, Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar (PESM), Ubatuba, Sao Paulo, Brazil, as well as
Checklist of ferns and lycophytes from Parque Estadual Mata das Flores, Castelo, Espírito Santo, Brazil
A checklist of ferns and lycophytes from Parque Estadual Mata das Flores, a state park located in Castelo, Espírito Santo, Brazil, is presented, finding 83 taxa, including 75 species, 3 varieties, 4 putative hybrids, and 1 cultivar.
Aquatic ferns from Viçosa (MG, Brazil): Salviniales (Filicopsida; Tracheophyta)
The alloploidy (pentaploidy) of S. molesta is confirmed, due to the production of only hollow sporangia; the presence of nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium, Anabaena azollae Strasburger (Nostocaceae), within the fronds of A. microphylla is confirmed.
Vascular epiphytes in the Grumari restinga, RJ: floristic and similarities between restingas in Eastern Brazil
Abstract The community of vascular epiphytes in the Grumari restinga, Rio de Janeiro state, was evaluated through surveys carried out in 2014 and supplemented with herbarium material and
Adiantum (Pteridaceae) in Brazil: Key to the species and illustrations
This paper presents a key to identify the 63 native species of Adiantum in Brazil, excluding the hybrid one, which represents 25% of the total.

Taxonomic revision of Elaphoglossum subsection Muscosa (Dryopteridaceae)
A monograph of Elaphoglossum subsect Muscosa, a monophyletic group supported by molecular phylogenetic analyses, and three new species are described: E. novogranatense, E. oreophilum, and E. quisqueyanum.
The Brazilian species of Elaphoglossum section Polytrichia (Dryopteridaceae)
A taxonomic treatment for the 11 species of Elaphoglossum sect. Polytrichia found in Brazil is presented. The species of this section are recognized morphologically by the presence of subulate scales
A linear sequence of extant families and genera of lycophytes and ferns
A linear classification to the extant lycophytes and ferns based on current phylogenetic knowledge is provided, which provides a standardized guide for organisation of fern collections into a more natural sequence.
Adiantum lindsaeoides (Pteridaceae), a New Fern Species from the Atlantic Rain Forest, Brazil
A new fern species from the Atlantic Rain Forest, on the coast of Brazil, only known from Bahia and Espírito Santo States is described and illustrated, and a key to the most similar morphological species is given.
Phylogeny and taxonomy of Leucotrichum (Polypodiaceae): A new genus of grammitid ferns from the Neotropics
Both Bayesian and Maximum Parsimony analyses support the monophyly of Leucotrichum, with bootstrap value of 100% and posterior probability value of 1.0, and its sister-group relationship to the Terpsichore lanigera group.
Tryonia, a new taenitidoid fern genus segregated from Jamesonia and Eriosorus (Pteridaceae)
It is shown that several species traditionally treated in Eriosorus are in fact more closely related to other taenitidoid fern genera (namely Austrogramme, Pterozonium, Syngramma, and Taenitis) than they are to the large Jamesonia sensu lato clade.
A New Species of Isoetes with Tuberculate Spores from Southeastern Brazil (Isoetaceae)
Isoetes quiririensis is described, illustrated, and compared to similar species and should be classified as a data deficient species based on the IUCN criteria.
Molecular phylogenetic and morphological affinities of Adiantum senae (Pteridaceae)
A molecular phy- logenetic analysis and a thorough morphological evaluation clearly demonstrate that this species does not belong in this genus Adiantum, and a new combination is provided, Adiantopsis senae (Baker) Schuettp.
On the recognition of varieties in the grammitid fern genus Melpomene (Polypodiaceae)
In a recent revision of the genus Melpomene several wide-spread species have been recognized to display a greater morphological variability than their congeners. In order to facilitate the discussion
Rumohra glandulosissima (Dryopteridaceae) a New Species from the Atlantic Rainforest, and Revision of the Species Occurring in Brazil
These results are important for the conservation of rare plants in Brazil where there is a cottage industry of extracting leaves of Rumohra from wild populations for sale as floral greens.
