The bacterioplankton not only serves critical functions in marine nutrient cycles, but can also serve as indicators of the marine environment. The compositions of bacterial communities in the surface seawater of Ardley Cove and Great Wall Cove were analyzed using a 16S rRNA multiplex 454 pyrosequencing approach.
