BACKGROUND We have previously reported that a daily oral high dose of l-folinic acid for the treatment of hyperhomocysteinemia in hemodialysis patients does not provide significantly greater reduction in fasting total homocysteine (tHcy) levels than an equimolar dose of folic acid.
