We used a bioassay to measure pentamidine concentrations in autopsy specimens from 22 patients with AIDS. Patients received pentamidine isethionate (approximately 4 mg/kg per day) parenterally for Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia; one received monthly prophylaxis.
