The distribution of corticotropin-releasing hormone-immunoreactive (CRH-IR) neurons and fibers was observed in golden hamsters. CRH-IR neurons and fibers were observed within the hypothalamus, thalamus, amygdala, cortex, midbrain, and hindbrain. The largest numbers of CRH-IR neurons were seen within the magno- and parvocellular divisions of the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus and within the septum, bed nucleus of the stria terminalis, preoptic area continuum.
