In Austria, the distribution of Anostraca, Notostraca, and Conchostraca is mainly confined to the floodplains of the rivers Morava and Danube, and the shallow alkaline pans of the Seewinkel region in Burgenland province. Occasionally, large branchiopods can also be found in rain pools of the eastern and central Austrian lowlands, where topography and climate favour the existence of astatic water bodies. Differences in hydrology, temperature and water chemistry requirements may be reflected in… Expand

Large Freshwater Branchiopods in Austria: Diversity, Threats and Conservational Status
For the first time, Anostraca, Notostraca and Conchostraca (Laevicaudata, Spinicaudata) will be listed in the Austrian Red Data Book of Endangered Species. According to the 1999 IUCN draft criteria,Expand
Biological aspects of the Spinicaudata (Branchiopoda, Diplostraca) in the largest alluvial wetland in Croatia
[Lonjsko Polje (Croatia) is among the largest alluvial wetlands in Europe. Temporary ponds that are the natural habitat for spinicaudatan branchiopods are very abundant in the area. We determined theExpand
Autumn populations of Branchinecta orientalis G. O. Sars, 1903 and Chirocephalus diaphanus Prévost, 1803 (Crustacea, Branchiopoda) in the Central European Lowlands (Pannonian Plain, Serbia)
Autumn populations of two large branchiopod species, Branchinecta orientalis and Chirocephalus diaphanus in the area of southern part of Central European Lowlands (Pannonian Plain) are here reportedExpand
Distribution and assemblages of large branchiopods (Crustacea: Branchiopoda) of northern Western Ghats, India

The keystone role of anostracans and copepods in European soda pans during the spring migration of waterbirds
TLDR
Anostracans and microcrustaceans can be regarded as keystone elements of this soda pan habitat because of their bottom-up role in structuring waterbird assemblages during spring migration. Expand
Distribution of large branchiopods in Western Ghats Distribution and assemblages of large branchiopods (Crustacea: Branchiopoda) of northern Western Ghats, India

A review of the distribution of large branchiopods (Branchiopoda: Anostraca, Notostraca, Spinicaudata, Laevicaudata) in Romania
TLDR
Data show the rarity and diversity of the fauna, and show that the conservation of the Romanian large branchiopod fauna is important at a European level and Romania has a great responsibility to preserve it. Expand
Assemblage structure and dynamics of large branchiopods in Mediterranean temporary wetlands: patterns and processes
TLDR
The most important habitat factor influencing the distribution of large branchiopods was salinity, adversely affecting the density and survival of hatchlings, and the persistence of large Branchiopods in these temporary waters may be threatened by increasing salinisation driven by intensive water management and climate change. Expand
Rediscovery of Branchipus schaefferi (Branchiopoda: Anostraca) in Belgium - notes on habitat requirements and conservation management.
TLDR
The first observation since 1997 of a member of this basal crustacean order in Belgium and the first sighting of the species Branchipus schaefferi Fischer, 1834 since 1930 are reported. Expand
Distribution and conservation status of fairy shrimps (Crustacea: Anostraca) in the astatic soda pans of the Carpathian basin: the role of local and spatial factors
The distribution of Branchinecta orientalis, B. ferox and Chirocephalus carnuntanus was assessed in the natural and semi-natural astatic soda pans of the Carpathian basin. In Europe, these habitatsExpand
