Carbamazepine (2.7–3 mg/kg) was administered orally as an alcoholic solution (50% v/v) to eight healthy volunteers. Two of the subjects were also given 50 mg and 100 mg of carbamazepine in alcoholic solution and 200 mg as a tablet. Plasma concentrations, which were analysed by mass fragmentography, reached a maximum 1 – 7 hours after dosing, and then declined monoexponentially with half-lives ranging from 24 to 46 hours.
