Distributed video coding (DVC) has been featured by exploiting the video statistics, partially or totally at the decoder. Wireless sensor networks are supposed to have lesser complexity encoders at the expense of higher decoder complexity. Therefore DVC is more suitable to video transmission over wireless sensor networks compared to conventional video coding.
