Alpha-catenin, an integral part of cadherin-catenin adhesion complexes, is a major binding partner of beta-catenin, a key component of the Wnt pathway, which activates T-cell factor (TCF)/lymphoid enhancer factor (LEF) transcription and is often upregulated in cancers.
