  • Abstract We discuss the following problem of statistical inference in quantum theory: a statistical operator W 0 is given a priori; we are then asked to determine the best choice W 1 for a statistical operator a posteriori, i.e. after a number of measurement results on the physical system in question have become available. We propose a solution to this problem which minimizes a certain distance between W 0 and W 1 and compare this solution with similar proposals recently made in the literature… CONTINUE READING
