  • Two inhibitors of the cholesterol side chain cleavage reaction were tested for their ability to inhibit bovine adrenocortical 17 alpha-hydroxylase and 21-hydroxylase activities. One inhibitor, 22-amino-23,24-bisnor-5-cholen-3 beta-ol (22-ABC), was found to be a potent inhibitor of 17 alpha-hydroxylation of either progesterone or pregnenolone but was inactive on 21-hydroxylase activity. 22-ABC was found to be a competitive inhibitor of 17 alpha-hydroxylase (cytochrome P-45017 alpha) activity… CONTINUE READING
