This paper presents a novel mathematical model for the sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (SPWM) technique. The proposed mathematical model is based on the sampling theory and discrete-time signal processing tools. In this model, the carrier signal is represented as a non-uniform sampling function, while the switching actions are viewed as an interpolating process.
