We report the discovery of three optical open clusters in the Milky Way. Two clusters are in Scutum (Cluster 1 at = 18.44 ◦ and b = −0.42 ◦ , and Cluster 2 at = 19.60 ◦ and b = −1.02 ◦ ), thus projected not far from the Galactic center direction, and the other is in Canis Major (Cluster 3 at = 235.61 ◦ and b = −4.10 ◦ ), near the anti-center direction. Cluster 3 is less populous than Clusters 1 and 2, but presents evidence of being a physical system. The objects were found optically by… Expand

Discovery of an open cluster with a possible physical association with a planetary nebula
We report the discovery of a new open cluster (OC) in the Galaxy at (, =- 167°0 and b = -1°0. Its field includes the planetary nebula (PN) PK 167-0.1. We study the possible associations of the PN/OCExpand
New galactic open cluster candidates from DSS and 2MASS imagery
An inspection of the DSS and 2MASS images of selected Milky Way regions has led to the discovery of 66 stellar groupings whose morphologies, color-magnitude diagrams, and stellar densityExpand
Structure and stellar content analysis of the open cluster M 11 with 2MASS photometry
An overall analysis of the structure and stellar content of M 11 is presented, thanks to the wide-angle 2MASS spatial coverage. We derive photometric and structural parameters and discuss the spatialExpand
A low-absorption disk zone at low Galactic latitude in Centaurus
We investigate the properties of two stellar concentrations in a low-absorption disk zone in Centaurus, located respec- tively at = 306.47 ◦ , b = −0.61 ◦ ,a nd = 307.01 ◦ , b = −0.74 ◦ . TheExpand
Methods for improving open cluster fundamental parameters applied to M 52 and NGC 3960
Aims. We derive accurate parameters related to the CMD, structure and dynamical state of M 52 and NGC 3960, whose fields are affected by differential reddening. Previous works estimated their ages inExpand
Properties of five low-contrast open clusters in the third quadrant
We derive photometric, structural and dynamical evolution-related parameters of five as yet unstudied low-contrast open clusters located in the third quadrant using 2MASS data. The target clustersExpand
Faint open clusters with 2MASS : BH 63, Lynga 2, Lynga 12 and King 20
Context. Structural and dynamical parameters of faint open clusters are probed with quality 2MASS-photometry and analytical procedures developed for bright clusters. Aims. We derive fundamentalExpand
Discovery of an extraordinarily massive cluster of red supergiants
We report the discovery of an extraordinarily massive young cluster of stars in the Galaxy, having an inferred total initial cluster mass comparable to the most massive young clusters in the Galaxy.Expand
Spatial dependence of 2MASS luminosity and mass functions in the old open cluster NGC 188
Luminosity and mass functions in the old open cluster NGC 188 are analysed by means of J and H 2MASS pho- tometry, which provides uniformity and spatial coverage for a proper background subtraction.Expand
Detailed analysis of open clusters: A mass function break and evidence of a fundamental plane
Received -; accepted - Abstract. We derive photometric, structural and dynamical evolution-related parameters of 11 nearby open clus- ters with ages in the range 70Myr to 7Gyr and masses in the rangeExpand

Does Cyg OB2 harbour any open cluster
We report the detection of three new open cluster candidates located in Cygnus. Two of them are projected near the center of the rich compact association Cyg OB2. These two objects have been foundExpand
New infrared star clusters in the Northern and Equatorial Milky Way with 2MASS
We carried out a survey of infrared star clusters and stellar groups on the 2MASS J, H and Ks all-sky release Atlas in the Northern and Equatorial Milky Way (350 ◦ << 360 ◦ ,0 ◦ << 230 ◦ ). TheExpand
On the Galactic Disk Metallicity Distribution from Open Clusters. I. New Catalogs and Abundance Gradient
We have compiled two new open cluster catalogs. In the first one, there are 119 objects with ages, distances, and metallicities available, while in the second one, 144 objects have both absoluteExpand
New infrared star clusters in the southern Milky Way with 2MASS
We carried out a 2MASS J, H and Ks survey of infrared star clusters in the Milky Way sector 230 <'< 350. This zone was the least studied in the literature, previously including only 12 infraredExpand
The embedded star clusters in the nebulae NGC 2327 and BRC 27 in Canis Majoris R1
We employed J;H and Ks photometry from the 2MASS Catalogue to study the embedded star clusters in the nebulae NGC 2327 and BRC 27 locate in the molecular cloud Canis Majoris R1. We made use ofExpand
Some Revised Observational Constraints on the Formation and Evolution of the Galactic Disk
A set of 76 open clusters with abundances based upon DDO photometry and/or moderate dispersion spectroscopy has been transformed to a common [Fe/H] scale and used to study the local structure andExpand
Extinction within 10° of the Galactic centre using 2MASS
We extract J and K s magnitudes from the 2MASS Point Source Catalog for approximately 6 × 10 6 stars with 8 ≤ K s ≤ 13 in order to build an A K extinction map within 10° of the Galactic centre. TheExpand
Low-extinction windows in the inner Galactic Bulge
We built K band extinction maps in the area of two candidate low-extinction windows in the inner Bulge: W0.2-2.1 at (l,b) = (0.25o,-2.15o), and W359.4-3.1 at (l,b) = (359.40o,-3.10o). We employedExpand
New catalogue of optically visible open clusters and candidates
We have compiled a new catalogue of open clusters in the Galaxy which updates the previous cat- alogues of Lyng a (1987) and of Mermilliod (1995) (included in the WEBDA database). New objects and newExpand
The embedded star clusters in the nebulae vdB-RN 92 and Gy 3-7 in Canis Majoris R1
