We report the discovery of a linear lead antagonist for the insect pheromone biosynthesis activating neuropeptide (PBAN) which inhibits sex pheromone biosynthesis in the female moth Heliothis peltigera. Two approaches have been used in attempting to convert PBAN agonists into antagonists.
