We present the discovery and characterization of WASP-148, a new extrasolar system that includes at least two giant planets. The host star is a slowly rotating inactive late-G dwarf with a V = 12 magnitude. The planet WASP-148b is a hot Jupiter of 0.72 RJup and 0.29 MJup that transits its host with an orbital period of 8.80 days. We found the planetary candidate with the SuperWASP photometric survey, then characterized it with the SOPHIE spectrograph. Our radial velocity measurements… Expand

In situ formation of hot Jupiters with companion super-Earths
Observations have confirmed the existence of multiple-planet systems containing a hot Jupiter and smaller planetary companions. Examples include WASP-47, Kepler-730, and TOI-1130. We examine theExpand
New constraints on the planetary system around the young active star AU Mic
AU Mic is a young, active star whose transiting planet was recently detected. We report our analysis of its TESS data, where we modeled the BY Draconis type quasi-periodic rotational modulation byExpand

The Continuing Search for Evidence of Tidal Orbital Decay of Hot Jupiters
Many of the known hot Jupiters are formally unstable to tidal orbital decay. The only hot Jupiter for which orbital decay has been directly detected is WASP-12, for which transit timing measurementsExpand

TOI-216b and TOI-216 c : two warm, large exoplanets in or slightly wide of the 2:1 orbital resonance
Warm, large exoplanets with 10-100 day orbital periods pose a major challenge to our understanding of how planetary systems form and evolve. Although high eccentricity tidal migration has beenExpand
New Insights on Planet Formation in WASP-47 from a Simultaneous Analysis of Radial Velocities and Transit Timing Variations
Measuring precise planet masses, densities, and orbital dynamics in individual planetary systems is an important pathway toward understanding planet formation. The WASP-47 system has an unusualExpand
The Apparently Decaying Orbit of WASP-12
We present new transit and occultation times for the hot Jupiter WASP-12b. The data are compatible with a constant period derivative: $\dot{P}=-29 \pm 3$ ms yr$^{-1}$ and $P/\dot{P}= 3.2$ Myr.Expand

Detection and characterisation of 54 massive companions with the SOPHIE spectrograph
Context. Brown dwarfs (BD) are substellar objects intermediate between planets and stars with masses of ~13–80 MJ. While isolated BDs are most likely produced by gravitational collapse in molecularExpand
The WASP project and the superWASP cameras
ABSTRACT The SuperWASP cameras are wide‐field imaging systems at the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands, and at the Sutherland Station of theExpand
DHP Framework: Digital Health Passports Using Blockchain - Use case on international tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic
The DHP Framework is presented that uses a private blockchain and Proof of Authority for issuing Digital Health Passports and discusses the concept of a Health Passport as a means of verifying that individuals are disease risk-free and how it could be used to resume the international tourism sector. Radiation spectra of warm and optically thick coronae in AGNs
A soft X-ray excess above the 2-10 keV power law extrapolation is generally observed in AGN X-ray spectra. Presently there are two competitive models to explain it: blurred ionized reflection andExpand
